An aperitif drink that never goes out of style, Negroni is certainly one of the most popular and unforgettable Italian recipes in the world.
It has a long history and has been loved by people for many years, since 1919 when it was invented at Caffè Casoni bar in Florence. The Italian cocktail takes its name from the Count Camillo Negroni, a regular customer of the bar who returned from a trip in London, asked the bartender to substitute gin in place of soda, to strengthen his typical Americano cocktail.
And thus, the famous Negroni recipe was born combining equal parts of Campari bitter, Red Vermouth and Gin. All garnished with an orange slice. Only few ingredients for a great and elegant mix, very fragrant, where the bitter taste of Campari blends perfectly with the aromatic gin.
Although this cocktail is considered an aperitif drink while its components give it a fairly high alcohol content. That’s why it is also considered as an opening ritual of a friends’ party as many other Italian drinks.
